Marina and fantastic volcanic backdrop - Santa La Cruz, La Palmer |
Up on deck, we realised the Marco Polo was sandwiched between two other ships, Mein Schiffe 1, and the Balmoral. Both were bigger than our little ship, but I have to say, the German one made me think of a tanker. Not a pretty ship!

So after breakfast we went into town, we were on a mission to find Peter a pair of trainers, as well as enjoy the city for what it is.
Well we didn't find any trainers, but we enjoyed our walk anyway. With the volcanic mountains as a backdrop, the narrow streets, Renaissance architecture, flowers and balconies all under that lovely warm sun, you just can't help but like being there.

And then it was back on board to sail away just as clouds rolled in and the temperature dropped. No classes this afternoon, so we enjoyed a nap before venturing out for the evening's entertainment. The quiz tonight was the TV tunes quiz, our team (including our now regular quiz partners, Mick and Christine), did well. But we didn't win, much to Mick's disappointment, (he's keen that we win at least once).
Madeira all day tomorrow, followed by the New Year fireworks. I'm looking forward to it.
